After the SchafbergBahn and WolfgangseeSchifffahrt collectively covered over 100,000 kilometers and transported nearly 1 million passengers in the course of the past year in tourism, the winter break on Lake Wolfgang was used to get the fleet back into tip-top shape for the new season ahead. Beginning March 1, the WolfgangseeSchifffahrt Ferries, the SchafbergBahn Cog Railway, and Café & Restaurant EQ will commence spring operations.

The new valley station of the SchafbergBahn has been honored with the prestigious “Prix Versailles.” This international recognition celebrates outstanding achievements in architecture and design worldwide, and this is the very first time the award has gone to us.

Managing Director Mario Mischelin and architect Michael Höcketstaller personally accepted the “World Prize for Architecture and Design” in the Train Station category at the UNESCO building in Paris. “We are proud to have been awarded the ‘Prix Versailles.’ This gold medal at the Architecture World Championships shows that tradition and innovation can indeed be perfectly combined. Since 1893, visitors have been carried up the 1,783-meter-high Schafberg, and now we have succeeded in giving the region and St. Wolfgang such a modern and, ultimately, award-winning valley station,” states Mischelin.

Salzburg – On October 30, 2024, the FestungsBahn Funicular was once again proud to welcome its 2-millionth passengers of the year: the Schmidt Family from Friedrichshafen in Germany. Michael Baminger, Board Spokesperson and CEO of Salzburg AG, together with Mario Mischelin and Tobias Pürcher, Managing Directors of Salzburg AG Tourismus GmbH, as well as Operations Manager Gabriel Schmalzl, congratulated the delighted guests of honor with Mozartkugeln chocolates and vouchers for the company’s Five Tourism Treasures.

A ride on the Christmas Train operated by the SchafbergBahn Cog Railway up to 1,364 meters above sea level guarantees the ultimate festive feeling. The WolfgangseeSchifffahrt Ferries, the Salzburger FestungsBahn Funicular, the WasserSpiegel Museum, and the MönchsbergAufzug Lift also promise enchanting excursions during this, the most peaceful time of the year.
