Austria's steepest cog railway has been running from St. Wolfgang up the Schafberg since 1893. The train takes 35 minutes to cover a total distance of 5.85 kilometers, rising 1190 vertical meters. And one thing is for certain: The memorable experiences already begin during the journey to the top.

Opening Hours


The Schafberg cog railway is in operation on Saturday, 2 March and Sunday, 3 March.

The trains are running to the station Schafbergalm (1,364 m) on Saturday and Sunday in good weather.

You can visit our restaurant from Fridays - Tuesdays (closing days: Wednesday, Thursday) from 11.00 am - 11.00 pm (kitchen until 10.00 pm). Further information about the restaurant can be found here
